9VAC25-920-30. Purpose.

The purpose of this chapter is to establish a general permit for the use of irrigation water withdrawals from the surficial aquifer greater than 300,000 gallons in any one month under the provisions of 9VAC25-610. Applications for coverage under this general permit shall be processed for approval or denial by the department. Coverage or application denial by the department shall constitute the general permit action and shall follow all provisions in the Ground Water Management Act of 1992 (§ 62.1-254 et seq. of the Code of Virginia), except for the public comment and participation provisions, from which each general permit action is exempt.
