BOARD OF PSYCHOLOGY

AGENCY SUMMARY

The Board of Psychology is an agency within the Department of Health Professions. Code of Virginia, Title 54.1, Chapter 25. See the summary for the department for the regulatory power applicable to all health regulatory boards. Code of Virginia, Title 54.1, Chapter 24.

The board is authorized to license clinical psychologists, applied psychologists, and school psychologists, including school psychologists-limited in cooperation with the Board of Education, and to promulgate regulations for the voluntary certification of its licensees as sex offender treatment providers and the mandatory certification of certain other professionals as sex offender treatment providers.
