CEMETERY BOARD
AGENCY SUMMARY
The Cemetery Board is a separate agency within the Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation. The director of the department acts as the board's secretary and administrative officer. The board regulates non-exempt, for-profit cemeteries offering perpetual care or pre-need services. The board is authorized to (i) license cemetery companies; (ii) regulate preneed burial contracts and disclosure requirements; (iii) require and regulate trust fund accounts; (iv) register sales personnel employed by a cemetery company; and (v) establish qualifications and standards of conduct for compliance agents.
